im going to italy in the winter at the end of they year.. and i will be going to florence, siena, udine and rome... all places that i went to when i went to italy last time when i was 16.
but this time i also plan to go to Milan and bologna.
florence is a really beautiful place, it has the uffizi gallery.. which has the "birth of venus" by Botticell, and also the Galleria dell'Accademia which has the statue of David.
when i was in italy i climbed all the towers, not that they were that big, it was just something interesting.. and they all has great views.
how long are u going for? some other places that i would really like to visit are, genoa, trieste, rimmini (apparently it has a good nightlife) and the cinque terra (even though id much prefer to visit it in the summer). like you i dont want to go to the south.. but i hear naples is really nice and sicily.. but i think they would be better in the summer.
have fun over there. i kno i cant wait til i go! |

My first suggestion would be Rome. There are so many monuments in it you can easily spend lots of time in it. While you're there, be sure to see the Vatican (St Peter's Basilica, Castel Sant'Angelo, Sistine Chapel...) and the ancient Roman buildings (Colosseum, Palatine, Pantheon...).
My second choice is Tuscany, a region in the country's centre. There are plenty beautiful cities there (Florence, Siena, Pisa...) and great sights in each of them.
Sicily is also a good place, in a similar way to Tuscany. There also are wonderful cities (Palermo is in my opinion the nicest city in Italy) and monuments. It's in the far south.
Tuscany and Sicily are huge, and don't forget that you can't drive a car in Italy until you're 18! |
