The seller couldn't sell cigarettes to people under 16, just in theory. But they have no right to ask for your id and basically don't care, it just money for them, so you can buy all the cigarettes that you want and pay them by cash, atm, cc or wathever you like.
I remember my granpa sending me to buy his cigarettes when I was 8....

If you can keep your mind focused on the task long enough to get past all of the drug dealers, wine peddlars and sex merchants. A trip to Europe may not be such a good idea for you.

By the way, STOP SMOKING! It's not a choice. It is an addiction. I have buried so many friends and family members because of smoking. I USED to smoke. Quitting was hard, but worth it. If you quit at 15 your body will repair itself. When you are 30 you will be thrilled you stopped.

I hope not!

And quit smoking! Such a nasty, unhealthy habit! Gross!

No, it won't be easier. First of all, in Italy you must be 16 or older to smoke and second, you might need an ATM card in order to buy cigarettes. I live in Germany and we have this new system now, where you must enter an ATM card into the machine in order to buy cigarettes. (Usually, ATM cards are given out to people older than 16 or 18) And I think Italy has the same system for the cigarette machines. Quit that annoying habit, you health will thank you for it!

Oh, and don't forget: Smoking is forbidden in Restaurants, Clubs, Bars there also - smoking outside is allowed only!

I'll spare you the anti-smoking rant. (Everyone else's are better than mine, anyway...)

Anyway, the answer is no, you're not old enough to buy them. In Italy, tobacco stores are only allowed to sell cigarettes to people aged 16 or older. (http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/33/2/432 )

By the way, the European Public Health Alliance issued a ban in Italy on smoking in all enclosed public places as of January 10, 2005. (http://www.epha.org/a/1630 )

Hi! I live in Italy and I'm 14... I don't smoke, and actually I know that u shouldn't be able do buy ciggarettes... but u know what?? they don't check anything, so you'll easily buy them, especially with the automatic machine! Don't worry!

even though, I really think that it's too bad that u r already smoking since u were only 12 yo!

The legal smoking age in Italy is 14 but buyers must be 16 or over to purchase. (I didn't know about using an ATM card - that seems a very sensible solution!)

Recognise that you have become a slave. It is not merely that it is bad for you (which it is and will be in time - I am sure that you are well aware of all the things it can do but they seem too far away to worry about), you should understand that you don't need nicotine but your body is telling you that you do because you have unsuspectingly allowed it to have it in the past. Now, receptors in your brain have become used to it and are telling you very powerfully to go and buy cigarettes.

Do resolve that you will not be a slave any longer. I have been smoking for over 40 years and am finding it the hardest thing in the world to stop. You have only been smoking for 3, so it should be a little easier. Make the decision to ask for help (maybe with a friend). It's a lot easier if you have understanding support. It is a decision that YOU can make and be proud of!
