Recommendation for a hotel in Rome? |

Can anyone recommend reasonably priced hotels...? |
in Rome, that would be within walking distance of the "tourist attractions"? Nothing too fancy, but it would need to be a fairly nice place to stay, and it's just for adults, not children so it doesn't need to be 'family-friendly' as such.
Also, I've never been to Rome before so have no idea what the weather is like! What is the average temperature in November?
Thanks in advance! |

Weather in Rome in November is hit or miss. I've been there several times and once it was in the 60s (hilarious to see native Romans bundled up like it was freezing while I was wishing I'd packed more t-shirts!) and once it was in the 30s. Pack for layers- that way you can layer up or down depending on the temp. Rome is very expensive and you don't want to try and be buying a coat or sweater there. Bring a hat/scarf too.
As far as accomodations- I just stayed at the Hotel Triano in the center of the city. Good location and reasonable prices- breakfast included. DON'T buy their internet card for use on the hotel computer- it is about 10x more expensive than going to an internet cafe. You can also try www.venere.com for other places. I use this website all the time. I have never had any problems with them. They have pictures, can make reservations online, and have reviews from people who stayed at the property. Heads up though- staying in the city centre is pricey. |

I haven't been to Rome either but...if nobody comes up with any answers for you, you could try 'The Lonely Planet'
Either the book in the series for Rome or on the website.
From the website you can get tons of leads from other travellers and they will be honest! |

Without knowing exactly what you would consider reasonable or exactly when you'll be here, it's difficult to make a specific recommendation. Prices vary a lot depending on what's going on in Rome.
I use this site for booking hotels here in Italy - http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/. There are almost 600 listings in Rome alone. You can pick a particular area in the city and sort by price, rating, or other criteria. I like to stay in the areas called Colosseo, Trevi, or Pantheon. The Repubblica area near Roma Termini station tends to be cheaper usually and has easy access to public transit. It's also walkable to the attractions although it's further - about 20 minutes down via Cavour to the Colosseum.
The Hotel Romano is sometimes somewhat cheaper (60 euro per night cheaper in November) than it is right now - http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/kolosseum/hotel_romano.html. This is in a great location right across from the Forum and close to the Colosseum, etc.
