Can anyone suggest a holiday house in Italy for our honeymoon?

We arrive in Italy on 7th April, stay two nights in an hotel, then we plan to use the Italian railway network to get around, so I'm looking at places with stations.
We want to go to Bologne (for food etc) Florence and Rome over a period of 3 weeks. Then we fly back from Malpensa airport on 1st may.
We would prefer some peace and quiet, but don't want to be so far away that eating out becomes a major undertaking!
I've never been to Italy before, so excuse my ignorance of the various towns etc. (My head is also elsewhere because of wedding preparations!)

Go to the south...Matera, Lecce, Otranto and the coast around that will be a nice surprise for you ( for food as well)....

oh, you have got to go to venice- it is so romantic.

My suggestion would to look for "Pensione", is a generic name for small hotels run as family business, you will find food and bedroom and the prices more reasonable.

Best wishes

Instead of looking for one house in one place, you'd better stay some days in each places: 2 nights in Milan, 3-4 in venice, 1 in Bologna, 3-4 in Florence, 5-6 in Rome... Italy is not so small as many people think and railways are expensive. And the most places deserve some days to be visited well. I suggest also Verona (between Milan and Venice) and Siena (one hour from Florence) which are quiet and romantic towns, not chaotic like Rome or Milan.
To fly back, if you come to an end in Rome, I suggest a flight Easyjet from Rome to Malpensa, if you book early you can get very cheap prices. The train from Rome to Milan is frightfully expensive.

There is a gorgeous villa in Italy being advertised direct from the owner on our website http://www.propertydirectfromtheowner.com It looks gorgeous and would make a fantastic base for your honeymoon!

Hope you have a wonderful wedding and a great honeymoon wherever you go!
