You can fly Alitalia (Always Late in Take-Off, Always Late In Arrival) if you really want, but it will be much more expensive and time-consuming than simply taking the train! I suggest checking the times on Trenitalia's online schedule, and remember that train stations are in the city center and there is no security or check-in to make you late.

Actually, in response to a previous comment, RyanAir us based out of the U.K. and most flight only go from an Italian city to London. There is one flight, however, that goes from Rome to Pisa, but Pisa is still quite a distance from Florence.

Another inexpensive airline that flies within Italy is volareweb.com, but the only flight they have from Naples goes to Milan. The same is true for easyjet.com.

My only suggestion then would be Alitalia - they have a flight from Naples to Florence via Rome and costs just under $400.

If I were going to do it, I would either rent a car or take the train !!!

you can, but honestly between security, possible delays, over price transportation to and from the airport, and having to be at airports at least an hour before the flight its easier and quicker by train!

Probably, but why not take the train? Probably cheaper and may even take less time if you count getting to the airport, checking in, waiting for your flight, gathering your luggage, and leaving the airport.

yes
