Hotel prices vary a LOT depending on exactly when you go. I usually stay closer to the Pantheon or the Colosseum when I go. Either place is easy access to the Vatican. One very good value right across the street from the Forum is the Hotel Romano http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/kolosseum/hotel_romano.html This is sometimes one of the better bargains in Rome, but can get to be expensive when all the prices in Rome go up. The Hotel Alessandrino looks like a good option near the Vatican http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/vatikan/hotel_alessandrino.html . I have not stayed there myself, but it's close to the Vatican and highly rated by a number of past guests. The Pensione Paradise also is cheap and is close to a metro stop: http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/vatikan/hotel_pensione_paradise.html . It's also the cheapest place in the Vatican area right now.

When we go to Rome, we don't stay near the Vatican. It is too far out of the way from everything else that we want to see, like the forum, the colluseum, the fountains, the squares, the museums the shopping, the walking. |
