No. Don't expect to go abroad and have everyone else speak English. You will not be pleasantly surprised. If you really want to live/work in Italy, take time to learn the language. It's a sign of respect, and it will save your neck.

In addition to knowing some Italian, you will also need a EU passport. Without that, it will be impossible to find any work, and in fact illegal for you to work.
