Can travelers still bring a bottle of water through security in Italy?

Naples, Italy has a very tiny airport and I don't think that there is even anywhere to purchase a drink in the terminal. Does anyone know if we can still bring a bottle of water through security? Or is it the 3-1-1 rule like in the United States? I'm an American flying from Italy back home to the United States so I'm more familier with American laws and regulations. Thank you.

i'm from naples. i don't understand what is 3-1-1 rule (???).
Anyway... there are lots of bars in the capodichino airport where you can eat and drink whatever you want. our rule is that you cannot bring bottles with liquid over 100ml, but once passed the handbag control, you can purchase and bring everything you want. ONLY IF YOU DO THAT IN THE AIRPORT'S SHOPS AFTER HANDBAG CONTROL . and after this control there are many bars and fast food too.

Sorry but I don't agree with the previous answers. As far as I'm concerned, you CAN'T take any fluid with you; even if they are fully packed and even if the guardians saw you buying them in the terminal.

No, you cannot take a bottle of water through security. The regulations are similar to the US - liquids have to fit into a transparent plastic bag no larger than one liter. Each individual container is limited to a maximum of 100 ml. There was a big trashcan full of bottles at security in Bologna when I went through last weekend - surprising since the regulation has been in place since November 2006.

The European regulations are here: http://www.aea.be/dbnetgrid2//htmleditor/UploadFiles/leafletsecurityOct06.pdf

You can bring bottle of water just if Yuo bought it in the airport...not are permitted any kind of liquid in the hand-baggage

last month when I flew I was asked to dispose of my water. After security I could purchase another bottle if I wished. I may depend on the airline too. BA..no water, Air Canada no water, all American companies not water. Some european airlines, flying in Europe only you can bring water thru customs.

?
Italy's airport security was a joke!
