The Coliseum, while something of a cliche, is a must see, as is Vio Vittorio Veneto, The Trevi Fountain (although keep your money close there, the crows are huge and dense), and the Vatican. The Roman Forum is kind of overrated, as there is very little actually there.

ktprieto
ST PETER'S BASILICA
Coliseum
Trevi Fountain
Roman Forum
Pantheon

I only had a few days in Rome, and these were the highlights of my visit :)

Oh yeah! And the Piazza Novana.

Hi
one of the most authentic romans area is Trastevere and I really think Trastevere is an ideal place to make a home base.
