There are so many monuments in Rome that nobody would answer your question here.
Have a look at the Dorking Kindersley (DK) guide book on Rome. You will find a vast amount of information and photos and drawings of all the monuments in this book. You should be able to borrow it from any library, and you'll easily find enough info for a 1 hour talk, let alone a 12 min one!

which monuments do you want information on?!? there are hundreds and hundreds.... do you want the colosium, the foro romano, the obliesks, the panthenon, the trevi fountian?!?!? there are too many to asnwer properly. you may want to look up these in particular - also the scala santa. oh the vittorio emmanuel II - houses the tomb of their unknown soldier too.
the spanish steps are not really a momument in my opinion - they are well know because of the movies.
