Castles between Venice and Florence?

We will be driving from Venice to Florence on Saturday. Are there any castles along the route we should see?

It depends on the route that you take. If you just stay on the autostrada, then no. If you go through Ferrara, there's a very nice castle with a moat. http://www.castelloestense.it/eng/. There's also the Duomo about a block away and other buildings of interest in the old town. On the street next to the Duomo, there will be a crafts market with some nice ceramics. There ìs also a nice castle in Monselice a little before you get to Ferrara: http://www.dde-europe.com/eng/scheda_hotel.asp?ID_STRUTTURA=277. However, this is more of a resort than a castle to visit now.

If you're interested in castles and are headed for Tuscany, this is a useful site: http://www.castellitoscani.com/castles_index.htm
