Cheap clean hotel in Venice Italy??

I need a cheap but clean hotel in Venice next to the gondalas for my Honeymoon, I only need to be there for about 2 days(going on a cruise from there). Please help! I did check out a place called Hotel Ariston, but I really don't know if it's close by. Any web sites would be great ;-)

In the lower price range, the Locanda Correr is close to Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge. Make sure you get directions from the hotel if you book it. You need to know that the Hotel is a walk-up - no elevators. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/caste...

Another excellent option in the lower price range in the Hotel Villa Casanova on the Lido. It's a 10 minute boat ride to Piazza San Marco and a 10 minute walk to the beach. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/#o=de...

You might also consider the Hotel San Moise which is on one of the canals with a lot of gondolas and is very close to Piazza San Marco. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/san_marco/hotel_san_moise.html

You can use the venere.com to search for other options. There are options for sorting by district in the city, price, guest rating, ...

The Hotel Ariston isn't on the island, it's in Mestre on the mainland. You'll either need to get to the train station to take the train, or take the bus across the causeway (there is a stop close to the hotel). There are guest reviews on the hotel on the venere site: http://en.venere.com/hotels_venezia_mestre/terraglio_carpenedo_parco_della_bissuola/hotel_ariston.html

The gondalas are everywhere in Venice. I don't remember where I stayed or else I would tell you, it wasn't that cheap though, but anywhere there is nice. The best advice is not to use a map...get lost there. You always find your way back, but that's the best way to to Venice!! Have fun:)

Last January, we stayed with our 15 year old son on the Lido in the Villa delle Palme Hotel, a 5 minute walk to the Santa Maria Elisabetta wharf where you catch a vaporetto or ferry-bus 10 minutes to San Marco where you will find lots of gondolas. The vaporettos run almost all night and very frequently and very cheap. During the day they run about every 10 minutes; a little less frequently at night.
The Villa delle Palme Hotel was immaculate, yet comfortable, the staff were professional but friendly and helpful. The 3 of us had wonderful breakfast included in the tariff of 95 euro a night.
By the way, I could not believe that our hotel was only 3 stars - it was great. We had off-street parking as well.
