Cost of living in Italy?

A friend of mine is looking to move to a suburb or small town outside of Florence and would like to know if 3000 Euros a month would be sufficient to live on for him and his wife.

yep. average salary is about 1.100/1.300 euros.
3000 euros is a good amount for a normally life, i mean: don't think to buy a Ferrari or a boat.

Yes, 3000Euro is enough!!! The average salaries are 1000 Euros!

Living in Italy as with anywhere depends on your lifestyle.

That is definitley enough.....I think that the only real cost of living problem in Italy is the rent. To rent an apartment (small one) is at least like 1,000 euros from what I've seen online....thats why many people share apartments but I think that 1,000 usually includes the bills also.

i live on the outskirts of florence, more like in the country side, about 30 min. away from the center of florence. if your saying 3,000 for rent and food for two per month? the answer logically is YES. from what i know, to rent an apartment on the outskirts is about 800 at the most and i mean for the entire apartment, not 800 for only the room (how it usually can be in florence) and the groceries dont add up to 3000 unless you eat a lot a lot, but other than that you fine.

if your friend needs help finding an apartment on the outskirts, i can ask my bf who works at a real estate agency here and sells or rents homes, villas, apartments. contact me if you need any help.

sure!!! rent is less expensive in small towns and two persons live well with 3000 euros!
