Cost to use toilette in Italy?

I agree with Pierluisa.
Somewhere in the station along the highway there are usually the cleaning people who just put a small dish out of bathrooms to collect money... but it's something voluntaire, usually I pay nothing.
In touristic places, where there are a lot of people, some toilettes cost something, but you can always go in a bar, take a coffee and use the toilet.... it's better and you can also drink a (usually) good coffee! And not so expensive (0.80 - 1 € more or less).

If you are travelling on a highway, use the Autogrill Toilets in the Autogrill shops/bars. They are usually clean and they are free (you can leave a tip, but only if you feel like it).

I've heard of toilets where you have to pay in the tourists areas, but they are still quite rare.

Any bar/ caffè has a toilet, so you can use those if you stop for a snack or a drink.

Museums also have toilets inside and they are generally free.

I'd keep clear of those "automatic toilets" that are little boots on some squares or streets, unless you are desperate: you have to pay and they are generally quite dirty...

Hi,,, it never cost me,,, but then i plan my daily travel around when getting coffee,,, make sure it has a bathroom in the place,,, ect ect....

good luck

Most of public toilet have a cost, let's say less then 1 euro (i'd say between 20 and 50 cents). But every bar, pub, restaurant must have a toilet so everytime you stop and have a coffee or an ice-cream or a pizza you can get the toilet for free.

I always found bushes in Italy had no charge.

There too, that sucks! I´m in Peru right now about too fly back to the states tomorrow at 3pm. Around here you better carry your own toilet paper and they don´t put the used tp in the toilet it goes in a garbage can in the s h i t smelling room and you have to pay .5 or 1 sol for the privilege!!! Still having a hard time putting used tp in a trash can!! I guess if you want to go to the third world countries they get you coming into the country ($20 US when you arrive) and you pay for the privilege of leaving the country ($30 US). But while your here you pay to c r a p!
