Day trip to Amalfi Coast from Rome? |
I am going to be in Rome in late October with my husband (we are both 26). We are going on a Go Ahead Tour, but then added an extension so that we will have a couple of extra days. We are hoping to go from Rome to someplace on the coast leaving on a Friday morning and returning to Rome Saturday night. Any suggestions on best places to go and stay would be great! I'm thinking Positano looks gorgeous, but I also have a friend that is recommending Capri. Also, we would love to know the best way to get there. Thank you! |

OK Look i was there a month ago. I loved the amalfi coast drive. Take the A1 autostrade down to naples. Over there make a connection to an Smaller autostrade. This is the short way if you were there longer you could have taken the way around so you could visit Amalfi, Positano. The best town at the amalfi coast is sorento. I recomend staying there for about 3 days. you should stay at the hotel grand royale great hotel. Then you can take the ferry (25) minute ride to capri and spend a whole day there (the blue grato) is not worth the money or the wait to get in. I dont think you should even bother seeing that. Also at the city of anacapri take the chair lift to the summit of capri and get spectecular views of mt vesuvius and the whole amalfi. (if you are scared of hights i dont recomend this). Amalfi is also great for snorkeling. Also make a day to go eat at the pizzaria named gaytanos pizza. |

Hello,
Capri and Sorrento are both beautiful. From Rome take the ultra high speed train to Naples. From there you can take the commuter train to Sorrento. You will have to take a boat to Capri but it is easy to do. These will definetly be overnight trips. Check venere.com for hotel recommendations.

I have been to both and I live in the naples area. Out of the two I would do Capri butyou and do them both they are not very big and you can take a boat from Positano to the island of Carpi. They both really have lots of shoping and beach life and thats it. I use www.selectitaly.com to find good hotels. |
