Sicily is very hot and dry in Summer and can be quite cool in Winter. The coastal areas are obviously milder, but if you go to Mount Etna, near Catania you'll find snow and ski runs. I've been there lots of times for work and for pleasure and I was there a month ago in Nicolosi, where it rained and on Mount Etna where it snowed. In general it is milder than the rest of Italy and well ventilated.
It has one of the most beautiful landscapes, with lots of small picturesque villages and a hearty cuisine. The people are over eager to welcome visitors and very hospitable.

I lived in Catania Italy for 13 years and let me tell you :
The summer time is dry and hot between 80-110 degrees . the spring can be raining for days to even a month.
The winter will get cold but as long as you are in town and not on Mt Etna you won't see snow, but their is skying on Etna and their is a famous nice Hotel that is really reasonable.
