I cant tell you exactly how far it is but what I can tell you is that Rome is a very easy city to get around and one of the best ways is walking I know this from personal experience having been there

It takes about 30 minutes walking.
You can take subway at Barberini (it's near Via Veneto) go at Stazione Termini and change line (Barberini is Linea A instead Colosseo is Linea B).
Linea B has a station just infront Colosseum.
1 ticket cost 1 Euro for 75 minutes on bus and one way on subway.
You can also buy a Roma Touristic Pass (but really I don't know how much it cost, you have to see on following web page)
For everything you'll need for transports in Rome you can visit http://www.atac.roma.it

It's about 1 mile as the crow flies: about 1.5 miles walking.

Or, for 1 euro you can take the metro. A couple blocks south will be the Barbarini Fontana Trevi (Trevi Fountain) metro station. Take the train in the direction of Anagnina. The 2nd stop will be Termini station. Transfer to the other train (Line B) in the direction of Laurentina. The 2nd stop is Colloseo (Colosseum).
