Do hotels in Italy have power converters for electric shavers available to guests from the United States?

John S
I just got back a couple of weeks ago and I took my own. When I made room reservations in Rome, Florence and Venice none of them had a converter on site. Only one had WI-FI access in the building. (These were not five star hotels but very clean and affordable.) They don't cost that much....Radio Shack has converters. One drawback is weight (probably two pounds). When I looked at most of the electric items I was taking several had 110/220 switches so it wasn't a problem.

Helpful Kim
You can take a chance or call the hotel ahead of time, but better to just purchase one before you leave. Try a travel store or Brookstone.

I would buy one if I were you.

Last Visit:May 2005Great for:Business, Beds, Internet ConnectionThis is the only hotel I was able to find in the area. Place is dead on week-ends when business travelers are away, even restaurants are closed. The Hotel Colleoni however has an excellent restaurant on week-days. Large hotels, rooms are fine. Shopping nearby. Internet and power convertors available.

I always bring one with me. Some hotels have them and some don't. Check with the hotel before you leave. The converters are easy to find. I've seen them at Wal-mart.

I used to work for a major hotel chain and had some very expensive hotels in Italy. Although some of them had converters available, they were only those left by other guests and not furnished by the hotel directly. You can find them in Italy to purchase, but it is much easier to buy them in the U.S. prior to the trip.
