Show all answers

MARCO
absolutely not....but expect to earn significantly less than you would in the UK...
Ciao

Sandy
so u move from uk to work in italy?!very strange!

lara
you don't need one because you are in europe i live in london but i am italian and i don't need a permit work.

HB
not if you have a UK passport. We're all part of the EU ...

nickthesurfer
No ..... under European Law, all those from member states are free to move through out the community, with out any any barriers.

Sarah (28/UK)
No as long as you were born in the EU (which includes the UK). You can live there indefinitely and with any EU country.

fasttrack
not needed

pete m
No but you will need to declare that you are working and obviously pay your tax etc. If you don't it would be the same as here you could be investigated for fraud

Calisam
My story was completely different! I needed to fill out a lot of paper work to work there legally. I have a UK passport and was told by a school that it was fine. In actuality it was not at all. I was in the country like a refugee. You can get in big trouble if you are not registered and don't have a work permit. A lot of people don't and get by...but if you are one of the unlucky ones...you can be put in jail. If you are planning on getting a job and are sorting this out before you go check w/the people who are going to hire you. I would be wary of an employer who tells you you don't. I will look to find out what the name of the document is that you need to have to be 'legal'. People try and tell you it doesn't matter...but it does. If you don't have one you are being paid under the table or 'in the black'. The money you earn and the taxes you should pay are trasferable to you British pension. This is the benifit of the European Community...not just being a wondering working nomad. Italian tax is a serious matter and they don't take it lightly! Not w/the amount of tax the gov't makes!!!
