I am part Italian on my mom's side and I do like Italians. I correspond on the internet with someone who lives in Italy and she's very nice. I'd like to travel there on day. I hear the food is outstanding and the people are nice. |

I love Italy and Italians!
I'm Welsh and we've always loved Italy.
For years the Italians have been coming to Wales to live. During the second world war my grandfather told me that some evacuees from London had been sent to my grandfather's village. On the bus to school the English began beating up the Italian children on the bus and calling them Nazis.
My grandfather and his friends beat up the English because the Italians had learned how to speak Welsh, and were more Welsh than the English kids.
The London papers got really scared and forced the headmaster of the school to expell my grandfather, his friends and the Italians.
But I really love Italy. The best food on Earth, a great language and wonderful scenery. In the past I've visited Ischia, Napoli, Rome and Venice. All fantastic. |

I lived in Sicily for 2 years, i just got back to the states in November. I personally really enjoyed italy. When I stayed in Rome, the hotel was beautiful and it was only a 3 star. Anywhere you go in italy, i would advise you to stay close to a train/subway station. Depending on where you go, Italians are generally real nice, sometimes you come across rude people but for the majority of the time, they are fine. The more northern you go the ruder the people get. But my aunt and uncle came to visit me while i lived there and they said they got a flat in the middle of a tunnel driving and someone stopped and changed their tire for them. And they also got lost and someone had them follow him and he led them to the place that they were looking for.
The food there is amazing, naples i believe had the best food, Antonio and Antonio was the best restaurant with the best food.
The two complaints that i have is the prostitution, it is all over italy and pisa was a waste of a trip, oh yea and one more thing, the exchange rate is hurrendous!
Overall though Italy in general is filled with history and beauty |

I actually didn't like Italy as much as I thought I would. The food is good (especially the gelato). Part of it could be that our travel plans just didn't work out as well as we expected and we got stuck in a train station overnight in Geneva. Also our hostel in Rome was in the middle of no where and surrounded by barbed wire. It felt like a prison camp especially since we stayed in a tent with bunkbeds...
The people were ok, but I wasn't overly impressed with the ones that I ran into. We made the mistake of taking a picture with the guards outside the coloseum and got ripped off money wise. We also got ripped off with the EuroStar trains in Italy that charge extra and don't just accept EuroPasses. So overall out of the 10 countries I went to in Europe Italy was one of the worst (about equal to Slovakia...) |

well, I live there, but coming from Durban I'm not a big fan. Don't get me wrong, Italy is wonderful, I live in Tuscany that is very pretty, but Italans sometimes think that they're the best thing out there, plus I miss decent shopping malls, english books, magazines and big variety of CDs (Italian music is HORRIBLE) |
