Do you live in Italy? What would you ask someone from Canada to bring you? |
I am going to Italy in April and I want to bring along some unique things that you just can't get in Italy...do you know of any? I've been told maple syrup, peanut butter, coffee crisp, chocolate bars....my friend there owns a bar, so I was going to buy him a banner from Molson Canadian beer that says I AM CANADIAN as I thought he would get a kick out of it....
But what else? Thanks!! |

When we lived in Italy, we brought marshmallows.
We showed them how we roast them over a fire.
It was hilarious, as one of our frineds had a "lightbulb" moment, realizing after all these years that that was what Snoopy & the rest of the Charlie Brown gang had been doing with the stick over the fire.
Also, chocolate chip oatmeal cookies were a huge hit. Oatmeal was hard to find there, being available only in small health shops. When we asked for it, we were told that it was for horses to eat! I made the cookies and my husband's co-workers loved them. They could hardly believe they had oatmeal in them! I had many people ask for the recipe. Just be sure to bring the brown sugar with you, as that is also not available over there. ;) |

Maple syrup is rare here, but there is one brand carried in my local store. I brought some back with me and the family living upstairs uses it at Christmas time on Pandoro - a little odd, but not bad. Instead of the syrup, you might consider maple cookies. Peanut butter is available here in limited quantities too, but is also not particularly popular. The Molson banner sounds like an excellent idea that fits your friend. The coffee crisp might go over well too.
You might consider something like a good sharp cheddar cheese, or some of the artisan cheeses from Quebec. |

What about a piece of native handcraft to expose in the bar? |

I live in Italy. Well you could bring typical Canadian foods such as maple syrup. The banner sounds like a really nice idea, too. |

smoked salmon should be fine, not too much, just for a taste.
Italians have different tastes, don't crave for sweet stuff, plus are health conscious
love story continues ehhehehe |

you have just garbage down there, what a useless place. Stay where you are and don't bother. Italy doesn't need your junk. |
