No. You don't. Although the Holy See is considered a sovereign nation, there are no border controls, nor any visible border to speak of. |

No, but take note that there is a strict dress code for St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums.  Women must cover their shoulders and knees and men must wear full length pants. There is actually a fashion check-point and if you are not dressed accordingly the Vatican staff will refuse entry.  Please keep this in mind when planning your tour to the Vatican. |

No! In reality the Vatican is in Rome. However, after the State and Church separation, they needed to give the church some status, that is why the Vatican was declared as a separate state. |

There are no formalities required to enter the Vatican City, but entry will always be via Rome, and Italian regulations must therefore be complied with (see Passport/Visa in the Italy section).
There is free access only to certain areas of the Vatican City; these include St Peter's Church, St Peter's Square, the Vatican Museum and the Vatican Gardens. Special permission is required to visit areas other than those mentioned. |

No but you must know someone to enter in Vatican, otherwise you can only visit the museum and the church. |

No. It is really just part of Rome. Just take the Metro and walk right in. It is really worth the trip.
In their answers, certain people have stated that you should always carry your passport on you. I don't agree with this. Keep your passport in the hotel safe-deposit box, and carry a photocopy with you. But I have never been stopped for my passport in my life while walking through a foreign city and I have been to some pretty wacky places. |

?

no. But take your passport with you, do not leave it at the hotel.
It may be stolen at the hotel, or your might be stopped on the streets to check your ID. When abroad, always carry it with you. |

Guessing you dont live there and already have a passport and will be carrying your passport on your person while in a foriegn country, they'll let you know when you arrive or depart the Vatican if you need to present it. ¿<funny>¿ |
