Alghero airport (in Sardinia) has adopted the Regulation of the European Community. about persons with reduced mobility. They have what they call "Sala amica":

Alghero is the kind of airport that doesn't have the gates that connect to the plane. I'm guessing that that makes it more difficult for the disabled to climb down the stairs from the plane to the tarmac?

I got the following from the attached link:

The airport is very accessible for handicapped persons including information in Braille and adapted restrooms and elevators. You can also request assistance through the general information counter. There are parking places reserved for handicapped persons. If you would like to use a wheelchair it is best to arrange it with your airline company.
