There will be several people at the ticket office that will offer to give you personal tours or assemble a group. From listening to some of them at various points on the site, they seem to be pretty good. I've always just taken the guidebook purchased the first time there and taken a self-guided tour. |

if you go to the ruins of pompeii you can either go by yourself or with a tour guide, they also have headphones that can translate to your language..one of my friends works there, and i go all the time, well when im there :) |

I just returned from a cruise that had a great tour of Pompeii. It was arranged by Disney Cruise as a shore excursion. The company (called "Grumpy"?) conducted a tour and the neat thing was they gave everyone a one-way radio that allowed the tour guide to talk to you as you wandered around the compound. You didn't need to be next to the guide as the Radio had about a 70-100 yard range.
Several other members at our Dining table went on their own and said the tours at the main ticket area were very informative from their standpoint but they didn't have the 1-way radio's which made it a little hard to hear sometimes with the crowds.
Good Luck and have fun. |

I suggest you to visit Ercolano and Oplonti too. They are amazing! |
