Anytime is the "best time" because you are in Italia!
It depends on your priorities-do you want warm weather or less crowds?

We went in January and there were no lines anywhere in Rome, Venice, or Florence. The weather was in the 50's and 60's the whole time. It was a great time to be there. Rooms at the hotels are much less expensive in January also.

Don't go in July or August as it is unbearably hot. May, June or September and October are best. The other months it's very cold.

in September or in March, April, because it's warm, sunny and it doesn't rain often...

Please never go to Italy in August is real hot the best time to go is at the end of September

It depends on where you go. It's colder in the north than the south. In Sicily, it'd be difficult to spend time there in the summer, but in the winter it would be nice. The north has mountains and is a bit cooler; if you ski, head here in the winter, but there are lots of places that can be enjoyable in the summer. The fall would probably be the best time if you are travelling around italy, not too hot, not too cold, and not too many tourists.

Depend where are you going. In Rome the best month is May because isn't hot and quite dry.In Sicily you can go all the year for its mild climate.

Surely if you decide to go in the northern part of Italy, may to sept are the best months; in the center/south the range is wider, apr to oct.
And don't worry about august...yes, it's hot but not THAT much

I dont know the exact best time, but i just went at the end of april and it was very nice. Italy is very popular among tourist so the later u get into the summer the busier the country becomes.
