- Hotel: in this period you can find hotel at about 30-40 euro (in summer the same hotel cost 50-70 euro)
- B&B & Ostelli: 15-20 euro
- A bus&underground ticket costs 1 euro
- A pizza it's about 5 euro
- Pasta is about 7 euro
- A bottle of water is about 1 euro (but in Rome there are about 2500 little fountains, everywhere, with pure water)
- A big beer is about 4-5 euro
- A coffee is about 0.80 euro cents

The plane ticket is going to be the main expense. Im guessing if you dont go in the peak tourist season (summer months mostly) you could find a ticket from CA for around 800-1000 if you get it in advance. If you want to go cheap for your hotel costs just stay in hostels. Everyone always talks down about them, but I lived in Rome for 4 1/2 months and stayed in plenty of hostels and never had a problem. If you are looking for a real hotel though you might have to look for something on the outskirts of town to bring the price down but for a hostel you are looking at 20 euro a night, a hotel can be anywhere from probably 45-500 euro a night depending on how nice you want to go and how many people you split the room cost with. Food, you can also do cheap if you dont eat at fancy restaurants. Entertainment in Rome is great because you could get entertainment for 5 days easily for close to free. Depending on what your idea of entertainment is you can go to all the churches for free, and the museums are rarely more than 5 euro unless you go to the vatican. But assuming you are probably talking more like night clubs and bars etc... if you choose to go to the tourist areas like campo de fiori at night you can expect to pay a pretty penny for drinks. I'd say you could make it on 2000 bucks and do plenty of fun stuff while you are then and have money left over for gifts for all your friends. But you could cut that down a lot if you got your ticket in advance and were really careful with what you spent your money on. Have fun, I hope this helped.

going to Italy is an expense, but it is possible, especially if you dint go during the peak season
the plane will about 1000 $
for hotel it really depends, but if you want a nice one about 100 euros for three- could be less, could be more

if you are going, have a great time

food also depends on where you go- the touristy places tend to be expensive, but there food is OK- try a restaurant where there are a lot of Romans eating, those tend to be the really authentic ones- the estimate cost per meal for food could be from about 25-45 euros per meal, but like i said before, it depends on which restaurant you go to- the ones in the piazzas tend to be more
