European Destinations, HELP!?

My partner and I are looking into taking a week long trip to Europe. With talking to her she does not seem to want to travel to Paris . She has seemed to like Italy and Ireland but I need to know from you exact places you have been and loved not countries. Help!

I agree with Haslo. Rick Steves has suggested itineraries for British Isles/Europe. I tend to agree with your partner about Paris, although it does have its charms. The French countryside including the Champagne region, Normandy and Provence are worth the time. Make your plans and have a great adventure!

Have you considered a cruise? You'll be able to see many places without having to pack and unpack and enjoy excellent services as the hotel travels with you plus dont have to worry about finding places to eat.

In 1999, I went to Lauterbrunnen Switzerland and stayed at the Valley Hostel (www.valleyhostel.ch), this place is a short train ride and gondala excursion to the top of the Schlithorn in the top of the alps. I know this is not Italy or Ireland, but Switzerland is the best...If you go to Italy, you can take a short train ride from northern Italy to Switzerland for this for a couple of days....good traveling!

Go check out RickSteves.com. Steves is a Europe Travel guru and many people find his websites extremely useful. Have fun!

I could endlessly list places to see and go but I think there are other consideration. This depends on a lot of things such as what time of year for one and how much you want to spend for another. Most importantly you are only going for a week so I would pick Ireland as travel time is shorter so you will have more time to explore. I would save Italy for a trip where you have more time as Italy is a widely diverse country with so much to see. You wouldn't have time to really even scratch the surface. I think a vacation should not be overly rushed without trying to accomplish too much.

If you have a week, you could see Rome, Italy and really enjoy it, and possibly take a day trip to Florence. Both cities have a lot to offer. Rome has a lot of history and monuments, and the Vatican Museums. Florence primarily has museums and a better sense of Italian culure. IMHO. I would go back to Rome anytime. Just saying.
