Ever heard of a town/village called Trias?

I'm wondering if anyone who has lived around Italy or in the country itself has heard of a town or village called Trias. I'm not even sure of the correct spelling, but perhaps something around it. My great-grandfather immigrated during WWI to this country, and I'm trying to trace back his town. I was told by a relative that he came from this small town in Northern Italy, near Milan perhaps, and I'm just hoping maybe someone knows what area this town is it. Or if its even a town at all. Any help would be awesome. Thank you!

Sometimes small communities are considered self contained towns even though they are part of bigger municipalities.

There is a location named Triasso and you may consult the following links:
http://www.comuni-italiani.it/alfa/index.html
http://italia.indettaglio.it/ita/lombardia/sondrio_sondrio_triasso.html

To cross check you may search Italian last names and see in which areas your great-great parents originated from

I live in Milan.... by the spelling of the other user I could think this village is "trezzo" which is close to milan and my house.... try to google it (trezzo sull'adda, we only say "trezzo")

The correct spelling is important: try to ask again to your relatives or to look for information between old documents; also the surname may be important to understand which zone of Italy you come from...
For example also a town near lake Maggiore, named Stresa, could be pronounced "trias" after many years.
If you find more information, I will be glad to help you.
Ciao

How interesting ! I'll answer the other guy first, its' pronounced tree-aoz. Next, my family comes from the same area I believe the spelling is wrong but I'm not sure what is right although I traveled up & down through Italy & I seem to remember a train stop called Treas there is an e in it I'm sure of that. But exactly where I don't remember. Write me back maybe we're related. Robbin
