Flying into Rome?

Is Rome the cheapest place to fly into in Italy?
Also which airport is the cheapest to fly into within Rome,
and usually has the best deals from the United States?

We were all teens so we couldn't afford much so we took a flight to France using AirFrance then jumped onto the alItalia flight

What we did is take a flight to London, then switched to a cheap Euro airliner to get into Rome. (We used EasyJet, but others like RyanAir will work too.) Saved some good money that way.

I used cheaptickets.com last time and purchased a round trip from the US to Rome for $421. That included tax. There was one layover and we flew into FCO.

The prices are more driven by the airlines and the routes that you take than the arrival airport. If you're flying directly from the US to Rome, the flight will arrive at Fiumicino.

You can identify budget flights between a given city pair at: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/. There are links to the airline sites where you can check the schedules and prices.

Another good resource is http://re2.farechase.yahoo.com/. This will often find cheaper overseas flights since it searches multiple airline sites and other sources. Not knowing where you're starting from makes it difficult to recommend anything specific. There are round-trip flights between New York and Rome for $497 in the next few weeks. From Washington, it's $589.

Rome is not always the cheapest it depends on the flight and times and time of year. If you fly into Rome I would fly into FCO they do international flights. Campino does not do flights from the states they are a little airport that has flights though out the EU. British airways seems to be cheap latly and they are a really good airline just watch your connects because the airports are huge. So www.britishairways.com or travelocity.com for other deals.

I have always flown in to Rome because Newark offers no stop to Rome. If you are staying in Rome it is best to fly there because you'll save on the train, bus or taxi. But Rome is kind of central so it works. we paid $900.00 round trip with Alitalia
