Are there any cheaper places to eat out in Capri? How much should i expect to pay for a glass of wine and a pint of lager(cheapest places)?

well, i lived in italy for 5 years, and I found capri about the same prices during the summer months as any place where tourists are. and less when it's not june/july/august. any place in italy those months are more expensive because of the summer holiday. (especially bad in august). try to avoid those months and you'll be fine.
wine will be 5-7 euros per glass, better to get a carafe. beer... about the same. but it's really on par with any real popular tourist destination. |

Restaurants and bars in and around Piazza Umberto are very expensive.
Once you get away from the piazza you find much cheaper places. Also you can take the funicular up to the town of Capri where they will be cheaper still. |

I took the funicular to to the town, and ate in cute place. pasta was only $8.00 euros, plus $2.00 for the cover price per person. There was five in my group, that was $10. euros more. They had a sign outside, saying that they did charge for service, which is usually 15%.
When you buy a gelato, if you sit down to eat, they charge you from $2.00 to $2.50 euros more for using their chair.
So. You decide if you take your gelato and eat while walking around.
Have a great time. |

Ok, as other people say, expect to pay because its an expensive island but you can find things at reasonable prices. Firstly i have eaten at a couple of restaurants in 'Marina Grande' and you can find a plate of pasta or pizza or some fresh fish from 10/15 euros upwards. You can always have a look at the menu before you decide to sit. All over Italy they charge for covers in restaurants and prices vary at each restaurant, for example 2 people =2 covers. In Capri they vary i have paid 2 euros in one place and 2.50 in another, so beware this already ups your bill by say 5 euros. If you enjoy wine with your meal order, 'il vino locale' or 'il vino della casa', which translates to the local/house wine. which is a lot cheaper and is usually good enough.
When having drinks in a bar, unless you really want to sit down, its better to stand at the bar. They charge you double for sitting down and service.
In a lot of places they will have tourists menu's which will usually be a set price for a 3 course meal. |

I work in Capri so I would know.
The cheapest restaurant in Capri at the moment is I Faraglioni which is also a really good pizza place: http://www.capri.net/en/c/faraglioni
Basically you should expect to spend anywhere between 15 to 20 Euros on Lager on average. |

you don't go to capri and do cheap, just imagine for a glass of wine it be like paying for a bottle of champagne likewise with a pint more like a bottle of vodka, get my drift. |

There's nothing really cheap in places like that. You gotta spend your money and make sure that you don't go there with a low budget.
Hope that answers. |
