Italians speak a "touristic" English in touristic places. If you go out from them you are lucky if you find someone who understands English. We study English at school but the majority of Italians seem to have problems speaking it.
Get a pocket size travel book about Italian and good luck. |

More of us speaks a basic english..if you want to ask something to someone is better you choose the younger people, in tourist places (Roma, Milano, Firenze,Venezia) you have no problem to speak english or spanish because everyone understand if you speak slowly and with simply words... |

non ho capito il senso della frase!!!
non ho nemmeno capito se sei italiano!!!
ahhhh I understand! in general in the tourist areas and in the museums, people speaks english very well, but italians don't speak english or spanish very well in general! if you will have some problems, I advice you to speak with extracommunitarians because they speak english very well! in particular immigrants from bangladesh, blach africa, china!
greetings from rome! |

in the main tourist areas you'll get by with no italian. once your off the beaten track you might have some difficulty. take a good phrase book with you, for general stuff.. directions, what to order in a restaurant etc. then just enjoy, you might even pick up some italian. |
