It mainly depends on the budget and on the season.
During the week-ends most of the people remain in Italy or go to another European city by a low cost company (expecially the youngest!)
South-East Asia is quite popular, expecially China, Thailand and Malaysia.
Personally, as regards S-E Asia I have been to Sri Lanka and to the Maldives where I practiced scuba diving.
A lot of people go to North Africa (usually Tunisia or Egypt), because it is cheap and near, they usually stay in big hotels or resorts.
Honeymooners choose "far-off countries", depending on the season, such as Mexico, South Africa, Kenya, French Polynesia, Australia or New Zealand.

Hi I'm Italian from Naples.... wonderful city :-)
I have to say my favorite place is still Italy... I LOVE LOVE LOVE SARDINIA. I also like Ischia and Capri.
For your question I have to say Formentera in Spain. It's a little island very close to Ibiza. This Island Is not that big but has amazing beaches and amazing water. You can rent a scooter and go all around the island.

Being Southern Italian, Greece would be the best choice in Europe, In the States probably I will go to Argentina or Brazil,
I think worth to visit.

well, what to say, one of our favourite vacation.. is still italy... eheh.. sardinia, sicily, tuscany, ligury....
But well, according to me, i'm going to baltics and finland in june, and one week in tunisy in august!!
