One good way to reserve times at the museums is to go to the ticket booth on the back of the Orsanmichele. There's almost never a line there and you can buy tickets and reserve times at the Uffrizi, the Accademia and the other museums. From the Duomo walk down the street leading to Palazzo Vecchio (Via dei Calzauoli). The ticket booth is on your right. If you turn around when you leave the ticket booth and walk down the street to the right of the church across the street, there's a pretty good restaurant called i 5 Amici - the ribollita is pretty good there as is the cinghiale.
If you're going to several museums in Florence, consider this option: http://www.amicidegliuffizi.it/soci_engl.html - you can bypass the lines at all the member museums without reserving a time. I have one since I live here in Italy, but it can be a good deal for shorter term visitors.
There are several sites that will sell you advance reservation tickets for a fee. This one is run by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and has a reasonable surcharge for reserved tickets: http://www.polomuseale.firenze.it/english/benvenuto.asp
Others include: http://www.tickitaly.com/, http://www.florenceart.it/cgi-bin/book.pl?act=open&museum=accademia |

No, but if you go in june / july there will be a long line depending on the hour. I went in June last year during the afternoon, the line was huge. |

I would sugest to reserve your tickets online.
It might be more expensive than buying there but it might save you hours for the queue |

If you are going during the spring or summer than you should make an advanced reservation. However, I went to Florence over Christmas and there was no line at all, anywhere.
I do not remember the site to make the reservation, but if you go to Rick Steve's website he should have some information there. Or you could just do a search and use one of the sites that comes up. |
