Getting from Rome Airport to Venice by train? |
I am arriving to Italy to Roma airport and would like to take a train to Venezia.
Do I have to take a train/shuttle from the airport to the main Rome train station? Or is there a direct train from the airport?
I looked up on the Trenitalia website, but couldn't figure this out.
Thanks |

Ive done this a thousand times.
When you get to the airport in Rome take the shuttle train to Termini (Stazione Termini), it leaves about every 30 minutes and you can purchase your ticket for a few euros there at the counter. - there is no direct route from Rome Airport to Venice.
Once you get to Termini you need to buy a ticket to Venice
Dude, listen, my strong advice to you is to take the EuroStar it's the express train and will take about 6 hours. If you take the local or regular train you will make too many stops and it will take forever and the EuroStar is much more comfortable and efficient.
BEFORE you get on the train validate your ticket by stamping it at the little machine (you'll see everyone doing it). If you get on the train without validating it the conductor will come by and check everyones tickets and see that yours isnt stamped and he will give you a 55 Euros fine. And if you dont speak Italian he will show you a sign in English that says that. |

There is a train route which travels South East, then South
North all along the coast line to Bologna, but from there it
does change to A Different train to Venice..
At the train terminals , it is clearly marked where the Trains
travel to , and can easily be understood in English, half the
signs have both, also there is always people who speak
English to help....Also the good thing about the trains Stations
is they are so Advanced they clearly give you the time and
stations in large signage and are constantly kept up to date,
you only need to walk into a station and all is so clear.
It is best to go a little early because that way you have time
to take it all in and see the section you need to line up to go
and buy your tickets.
Whether there is a direct one, you can make the enquiries
there. |

You can choose the best way to go from Fiumicino (Rome Airport) to Termini Station (the most important train station in our Capital).
Check this site (here's the English version):

And enjoy your days in our beautiful Country! |

You go to Roma Termini station and transfer to a train from there to Venice. As the other answer told you, the Leonardo Express goes from Fiumicino airport to Roma Termini directly. On the trenitalia site, use Fiumicino Aero for the airport station in Rome.
However, this assumes that you are arriving at Fiumicino. If you're arriving at Ciampino airport, then you can either take a bus from the airport to Roma Termini, or take the shuttle to the Ciampino train station and catch the train to Roma Termini. |

Take the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini train station. This train leaves every thirty minutes, takes about 30 minutes and costs 11 euros.
From there you can take one of the the number of train to Venice. The trip takes about 4.5 hours and costs about 70 euros.
(The Trenitalia website is in flux so the link below may be broken. If it is, go to www.trenitalia.com , click on "english" and search for "Leonardo Express.") |
