Getting from Taormina to Palermo in the quickest way on 3/29 (saturday)?

Not sure if renting a car would be a good idea we will only be in Taormina for 2 days and then palermo for 2 days. I have heard I need to take a bus from taormina to catania then to Palermo. Or I could take a train that takes FOREVER 5-6 hours and is not dependable. What do we do??? I would like to leave taormina as early as possible in the morning so we can enjoy palermo for the 2 full days.....Thanks!!!

You do not need a car in Taormina, take a bus from Taormina to Catania and from there to Palermo.
Have a good holiday.

Go from Taormina on bus to Catania at stop in the airport, and there take the bus to Palermo (there is one to hour). You will be in Palermo in 2,30 hours.

These are beautiful places!

take the train from taormina (giardini naxos) and they are rather reliable. Should only take 4 hours. look on this website as it is the italian train website and you can click on English
