Giving up the rat-race?

has anyone regretted giving up work for a more relaxed lifestyle and moved abroad? or was it the best thing ever? would you have done things differently, or gone sooner?

When i turned 22 i wanted to leave the USA. I moved to Italy and lived in Sicily for 2 years, its was hard to find a job but I survived. In that time I went to Malta twice, Tunisia, and Dublin Ireland. Then about 6 months ago I moved here to Madrid, Since here I have seen Germany and London. I like moving around, you wont make as much as working in a job, but money doesnt matter when you are having this much fun.

If you can do it, then why not? You only have one life so why not do what you want with it. Maybe later you will be too old, or have kids, or who knows.

I was forced to retire from teaching through an illness. I am semi recovered, often visit friends in Greece for a couple of months at a time, found the courage to go island hopping on my own, I have taken up hobbies I never had time for, I am old enough now not to give a damn and if you get the chance to do this stuff while still reasonably young and healthy - go for it.

I hate to sound like an asshole, but:

I am attractive and gave up a job at the Sporting News to live in the Carolinas and **** hot college girls.

Do I regret it?

Consider this:
Even if you win the rat race, you are still just a rat.
Sounds like you want out and yet are scared.
Listen to the wisdom within you-it knows what you need.

I would prefer the relaxing life my friend. No one regrets it. If you can get in a position that you can do this then lucky you.

The rat race is truly a rat race.

I prefer travelling and working. I get the best of both worlds.
I would hate being a tourist in my own life!!!
