Going to Italy...have a few questions.?

So I'm going to Rome, Florence, and Venice. I wanted to ask...
Is the Euro a coin or paper?
What's the spring time weather like in each of these cities?
What do you suggest I wear(jeans, shorts, skirts, ect)?
It's a guided tour for most of the time and then we get to go explore ourselves, so what is a good cheap walking shoe? (was thinking about getting a new pair of converse, will that do the job?)
Will a regular over-the-shoulder purse be okay?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and answer my many questions!!
Additional Details
Also...I forgot to ask if there was tax on things, like when you buy stuff is there an additional charge for taxes??

Question: Is the Euro a coin or paper?

Answer: "Euro" is like "Dollar", so we have both coins and paper. The coins are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and 1 or 2 euro. Paper money is 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 euro.

Question: What's the spring time weather like in each of these cities?

Answer: well, it depends: what do you mean with "Spring"? If you mean, for example, beginning of April, it will be a bit cold in Venice (not so much) and average warm in Florence and Rome. If you mean end of May it will be warm everywhere. Maybe not enough to go to the seaside, but anyway warm ;-)

Here in Rome, after an incredibly cold winter, it seems that finally spring has come.

Question: What do you suggest I wear(jeans, shorts, skirts, ect)?

Answer: well... wear however you want! Just remember that to enter in certain churches (like St. Peter's basilique in Rome) you MUST be dressed not too flashy, your skirt must be under your knee, and your shoulders have preferably be covered.

Question: It's a guided tour for most of the time and then we get to go explore ourselves, so what is a good cheap walking shoe?

Answer: well... i'm not a fashion expert, but my suggestion is definitely to wear comfortable shoes: especially here in Rome you'll have to walk a lot.

Question: Will a regular over-the-shoulder purse be okay?

Answer: I guess it will be OK.

Enjoy Italy!

Euro is a monetary unit used in countries such as Italy, Germany, France, Spain, etc. There are coins worth 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents. Plus coins worth 1 (100 cents) and 2 (200 cents) euro. The Euros from different countries have different images but you can use them in all of the E.U. countries. For example, you can use a 2 Euro coin from France in Italy and vice versa. There are also Euro bills: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200... and so on.

Warm-sunny. Chance of rain.

Where whatever you are comfortable with. Italians tend to be a bit more elegant when dressing, so if you are going out just try to dress a bit classy. For example, don't wear jean shorts and a t-shirt to a semi-fancy restaurant.

Yes, an over-the shoulder purse will be okay.

Hope I helped....I live in Italy.

1. the Euro comes in both coin and paper

2. Rome and Florence are both warm in the spring.....however, last year, venice was freezing in March, it was very windy

3. you should probably wear jeans, bring some thinner long sleeve shirts and a heavy jacket (for venice)

4. I suggest a better pair of walking shoes. The first time I went to Italy, I wore my converses. I got many blisters. Get a cheaper pair of new balances or nikes...not too fancy though....they'll probably get really dirty

5. a slightly large over the shoulder bag will do...or a book bag/tote

The euro (as in single) is a coin. There is also a 2 euro coin. Euro fractions, like in the US are called cents. Other euro coinage denominations are 50 cents, 20 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents, 2 cents and 1 cent.

Euro paper denominations are 5 euro, 10 euro, 20 euro, 50 euro, 100 euro and 500 euro.

In the Spring prepare for nice weather and rain - think Northern California. Rome will be a bit warmer.

You will be doing a lot of walking along cobblestone (uneven) roads. I recommend the best shoes you can buy with ankle support. Converse, in my opinon, doesn't have enough padded insole for comfort.

An over-the-shoulder purse is ok. If you are concerned about thieves, where it so it hang on one shoulder and crosses your chest so the purse is on the opposite side. Don't put more money in your purse than you are willing to lose and don't have so much stuff in there you are fumbling for things.

Euro is paper and coin
it rained a lot when I was there in April, but it was not too cold for the most part.
Wear anything you feel comfortable in, I wore jeans for the most part but thats what I wear anyway. I didn't wear anything special.
shoes...I wore some WALKING shoes...some shoe you have already had for a while so you KNOW you can walk all day and feel good. I did not wear any fashion shoes ( and i consider converse fashion) or sneakers (or whatever you call lace up white shoes) as I had problems with them when I wore them for a full day. I just wore black soft sole comfort shoes.
I would wear a bag that is not easily taken by pick pockets.

Always get a copy of your documents with you (not the original)
If you would like to call the US for cheap, just check www.goobercall.blogspot.com
Can be used with any SIM-Card, but it would be bettere to have a local one, like Wind.

Euro...you can check on Wikipedia...i think they have pictures of them.

If I remember correctly, there are coins for 1 centimo (It.) 5c, 10c, 25c, maybe a 50c., 1€, 2€ and 5€ (?) and then paper, going up...maybe the smallest bill is 5. I can't really remember. Try NOT to bring back any coins, because they can't be exchanged...they simply become souvenirs.

Weather should be nice...I'd expect bringing a sweater would be a good idea...or a zip up sweatshirt...I doubt you'll need much else. I was there in the summer time.

Comfortable clothes. Heans, shorts (maybe) skirts, and tee shirts. light blouses.

Any shoe which you find comfortable will work...They're gonna know from your footwear, no matter WHAT you bring, that you're tourists. Besides, your big tote bags, purses, and cameras are dead giveaways! So who cares...take care of your feet. (my theory for the last trip...heck! I was putting, easily, ten or twenty miles on my feet a day! I needed comfy shoes!)

I would NOT take an over-the-shoulder purse! Pickpockets are EVERYWHERE in Europe where the tourists are. Whatever you carry should be easy to carry close to your body, under your arm...take care with tote bags, purchases and cameras as well. Especially careful around big crowds (St. Peter's Coloseum, St. Mark's Square, Il Duomo...any markets) MAKE SURE such things are close to you and in your sight!!!! I kept throwing my camera over my back, to do things, and people kept warning me to be more careful! I was lucky! My husband, not so lucky! They got his credit cards right out of his pocket! Not as bad as that could have been, either...nothing was ever charged! And his cash wasn't in that wallet! But it totally unnerved him!

hey! Buon Viaggio!

The Euro is both coin and paper
Spring time is very wet, raining a lot, but very nice temperature.
If you are a male, I suggest wearing jeans. If you are a girl, i suggest getting some designer.

Be careful of Gypsies.
