First of all you are going to love it. The coast is just amazing. You have to take to boat and go to Capri for a day but watch out your wallet because everything on that island is quite expensive. You can also take another boat and go to Naples, which is a beautiful city also if full of many problems. Then if you have time you can go on the other side of the coast towards Amalfi and visit Positano, too. I don't know how many days you'll stay in the zone but I hope quite enough to visit also the Amalfi coast. If not, please plan another trip over there because it is great.

sorrento is very beautiful, and is close to Naples, Caserta (where there is the Reggia of Caserta, one of the best palaces in the world, only the gardens are long 7.5 kilometers with a fake river!!), Positano, Capri, Ischia, Amalfi.
they'r all very beautiful cities and islands, and are all very close to Sorrento!!! visit them!

OMG you're going to love it!!!!
I am from Capri and all I can say is yes, it is indeed very expensive but let me tell you if you're going for a day you're going to be sorry, anyway if thats the case don't miss the blue grotto its fantastic and the piazzetta and most delicious gelato da Buonocore. Go to Anacapri and on the chairlift to monte solaro.
Also go to Positano, it so charming and lovely, you'll love it!!! you'll wolk till you drop up and down the hills.

yes, its nice as a base. You get great views from the hotel terraces overlooking the bay. But the streets are full of tatty tourist trap souvenir shops, and it is popular with older people so not very lively.
But you can get from there to Castellamare di Stabia which has a really cool cable car to the top of a big pointy mountain with stunning views. And then there is the inevitable Capri and other stuff on the must do list.
Take lots of money. With the Euro these days, its very expensive there. |
