Eat lots of food. Bring some good books or laptop with dvd's for long plane ride. Don't brag about your trip to your friends cause even though they may appear to be happy for you, they will secretly hate you. |

Weather will be comfortable, maybe some rain; bring a light coat because the vaporetti are windy. Otherwise, pack light. For flights I bought a big screen for my iPod and I play movies all those movies I didn't have time to watch in my real life. Get an aisle seat so you can get up to walk now and then. The coffee in Italy is great. |

When i went i flew into Verona ( well near it) and then went to Venice. It around an hour and a half i think from train....try www.trenitalia.it ( then click on English) as it has all the trains in Italy.
I also went in April ( on easter) and it rained quite a bit on my travels ( 2 weeks) but it did not stop me enjoying Italy. I would advise you to take an umbrella ( but you can usually pick up little ones on the streets of most cities).
Verona was lovely..i also had the best weather there as well which helped ( it was warm for the most part, cool on some days but comfortable for the rest). There is a lovely formal (but italian feel) garden there on the Gardino Giusti which i liked, the "collosuem" and the romeo and juliet theme. It also has a lovely setting.
Venice was a lot smaller than I thought and you can walk around easily but of course you can get the ferries that act like buses along the canals and give you good views. I heard it rains a lot here, and i had a thunder storm one night i was there...it bucketed down!!!
There was not as much here as I thought apart from san marcos square and rialto bridge there is not a huge amount to do...or at least without going into more churches and museums. There is a good market next to rialto bridge which is good for souveniers. Apparently the Murano glass factory is good...you have to go to an island.
Long plane ride...how long?? I did the New Zealand-UK thing a few times....that 24+hours and you just deal with it. Sleep if you can ( but try and adjust to local time on the plane) use theinflight entertainment, take a book, crosswords... |

Ok for travelling i wouldn't bother with a DvD player or laptop as it is an extra-weight to have with you when you are travelling around. I would bring a book and an I-pod with music. The plane will have films to watch so you won't get bored. (Remember to get up and walk about, it kills the boredom and helps keep your blood flowing!!)
Clothes wise i would say layers because April isn't that hot. It may not even be warm. Bring a light-weight waterproof, that way if it does get warm during the day you can take it off and its not to heavy to carry around. Jumpers or hoodies with t-shirts underneath for the same reason, if its warm you can take it off but if its cold you can wrap up.
Comfortable clothes as well for doing touristy things, you want to be comfy walking around. Jeans and maybe some 3/4 length trousers in case it is hot. Just basically bring a mix, but say clothes that are more summery rather than wintery. As long as you have a heavy jumper and jacket you will be fine. |

i'm 14 and i went all across europe. If you want to buy stuff. they have people selling like CHANEL on the streets for bargains. The thing is you can bargain low enough to like 20 euros. So make sure you have change, cause if you give them a 50 they WON't give you the change. Also i went in the summer and it was super hot. So think of it like going to a dryer california.. So warm.. maybe like capri weather. Also if your going into any churches make sure that you have something that covers your arms and legs to carry with you. Every day i wore a skrit. and bought a big purse and kept a sweater and leggings in my purse. Also KEEP YOUR PURSE CLOSE. they have alot of peop[le who can try to take you wallet and they're really good! Lastly, the plane ride! although your probably excited SLEEP. i went without sleep on the plane ride and because of the time change i fell asleep on my food in amsterdam. Its also probably warm enough to swim in a beach if you come from somewhere kind of cold.
aslo go;ndolas are cheaper during the day, so i would recommend that, unless your oging with a lover. When i went on a gondola i split it with korean girls. Its really good to split it cause you meet new people two.
have lots and lots i fun, i know i did! |
