The Eurostars International Palace is a nice place to stay. It has favorable reviews and is reasonable priced, but of course it all depends on the time of year you'll be travelling. Here is the link to the hotel: http://www.resideo.com/it/rome/02943316.hotel

This website is really good. All apartment in the historic centre of Rome.
Price from € 30 for person per night.

When I went to Rome with some friends, we decided it was much better, cooler, and cheaper to stay outside Rome.

We rented a lovely villa in a place called Narni. We hired a car, and confidently (!) drove into Rome! (lol I don't suggest you do this, but you can prob. get a train or taxi)

If you want to stay in the centre of Rome then be careful. Italian hotel rooms are usually TINY! and the bathrooms are usually really inadequate. They charge a hell of a lot in the centre.
In my opinion, you would be better looking for a pensione, or like I did somewhere just outside Rome.
