HELP! What is the employment rate in Italy?

Show all answers

Pinguino
The latest data (March, 2008) state unemployment rate between active population is 6.6%, so employment rate is 93.4%.
From ISTAT, Official Italian Institute for Statistics http://www.istat.it/salastampa/comunicati/in_calendario/forzelav/20080320_00/

Well.. The general unemployment rate is 6%, but you should consider that Italy is divided in two parts: the rich North and the poor South. In North some regions, like Veneto, Lombardy or Piedmont have an unemployment rate near 1%... In the Southe some regions like Calabria have an unemployment rate near 20%... So the situation is very different and depend on which part of the country you consider.

I see someone else has found statistics for you as the unemployment rate is about 6% (or so the statistics say.)

It differs from north to the south of Italy and depending on which season, as it is very hard to find employment in the south of italy in winter. A lot of resorts operate in the warmer months catering for tourists. (Offices and the like are always open, but sea side towns are pretty much deserted in winter.)

Even in summer the unemployment rate in the south of italy is much higher then in the north.
