to answer the person who asked why it is impulsive because we only planned it 2 days before because everyone else was telling us there was nothing available. Also, we had no accomodation when we were going there. We found something when we arrived. |

Sure, a couple of times a year I just feel like going somewhere and head to the airport to see what flights are available. It's usually pretty easy to find a place to stay in the tourist spots in Europe - most places have businesses that are oriented around short notice rooms. I got up one Saturday last December and decided that the Christmas market in Vienna sounded interesting - it was. One time while I was still living in the US, I went to Iceland on a whim for a weekend to see the waterfall & geysers. When the movie Local Hero was out, I left from the theater after the show and bought a ticket to Scotland. |

sure. I live in michigan. when i was single, one saturday morning I woke up, thought to myself, it's beautiful out, i have no plans and I've always wanted to go to niagra falls. so I threw some clothes in a bag and started driving towards canada. No idea how to get there or where to stay. 6 hours later I was checked into a hotel staring at the falls! it was great. I had never taken a trip by myself before and certainly not one where i had no reservations. it was a good learning experience for me! |

That is sooo romantic. But I tend to have a little plan before I go on a big trip. That way it is easier to relax. However I wouldn't say no to a trip to Italy even if it the flight leaves two hours from now. : ) |

Yes, but not to Europe. It is, I think a good idea though. I did go to Germany for 5 days with about a month's notice.
But given the great last minute deals available, this whole last minute travel phenomenon is a great thing! |
