La Spezia is wonderful, there is a gulf of poets, Tigullio, the castle of San Terenzio. All of the five littoral lands is wonderful. The weather is beautiful, the sea is magnificent. You can go by boat to the island of Palmaria or Tino ... |

Hi!Sorry for my english! I write from Milan, Italy.
If you have 10 days...I suggest you after "cinque terre" forte dei marmi ( if you go on summer) and imperia - porto maurizio located on a small hill named "parasio" over the sea. its streets are very narrow and its houses very old built about 1400-1600 after .c.There is also an ancient cloistered convent still active!Other good sea places are nervi and portofino.
I didn't like very much la spezia itself.
near Piacenza there are many castles and the kitchen (I don't know if the world is right...) is very various and good because Italy a century ago was separeted and there were many provinces, uses and costumes!Every city has its own dialect language. A beautiful place is Grazzano Visconti.Tuscany is also beautiful above all argentario (orbetello). For turism also Milan, venice, Rome a very ancient city.
I have never been to the south (i'm from Milan) but many says it is beautiful: pompei, ercolano, agropoli, ischia, places full of ancient life.
In puglia there are the famous trulli. I have been once to sicily the sea is beautiful, i visited taormina with its vulcany still active, agrigento and its temples, and the islands. In la spezia exc...i suggest you to try focaccia di recco, verdure ripiene they are tipical product! near piacenza instead salame di cinghiale, gnocco fritto, ravioli ai funghi.
This summer instead I will be to new york and las vegas and...I'm very happy!!!!You have beautiful places in US!!! |

nooooooooooo!!!also Spezia is a wonderful place...i believe you should come and see also it because it is a very nice place and you don't need to spend much time in it because it's a small town but you must see the sea from the passegiata morin(a very nice place where you can walk and admire the gulf!)
if you need more help contact me! |

No, La Spezia is not worth a visit as it is a is one of the most important military and commercial harbours in Italy. If you have the time you can visit Genoa which is much better than la Spezia... or even Pisa or Florence.
You usually can visit 5 terre in no more than one or two days.
Ps. La Spezia does not include Lerici or Levanto (these cities are worth a visit) |
