It is major!!! Breathtaking ... Permanente visual stamp on the brain!!!
I don't know if I would want to live there ... it's very touristy. The culture is very subdued and relaxed. Prices are extremely high. However, I was told that off the canals prices were normal ... If I were a newly married, it would be a perfect place to live ... single me would probably go insain living there.
It is close to Germany and Switzerland, so skiing would be fab. The web-site describes Venice's night life.

When my husband was stationed in Germany, my Italian neighbor asked me if I would go to there with her to see her parents. It was a very good trip. The prices were a bit high, but you will have the PX and Cost of Living Allowances to make up for that. Venice is really close by.(40 minute train ride). I have heard it is a decent duty station. I would go for it, even if you don't like the city you are so close to everything else that you could just about go anywhere for a weekend. |
