It's hot, dusty, and full of life. I enjoyed it. It's weird to see many different cultures and many different time periods represented in one place at the same time. It's over 2000 years old, kind of what you'd expect.

Agree with the above. There is no place like Rome. Try to visit between April and June, when the weather is fantastic and not too hot. Do some reading, it's good to have some information before you take off! http://www.wheninrometours.com/Articles/Rome-News/

The thing to remember about Italy, even though it is ancient, as a nation it is about 100 years younger than the US and is a unification of a number of totally different states. Sicily, Tuscany, Venetia, Parma, Modena, Lombardy - all very different places now one. Ergo, the variety is wonderful. I've been all over the world. It's the one place I always think of when I start planning a vacation.

You will love it when you get there.

It's a great place. You need to figure out how to go there and visit even for a little while.
