It is beautiful I have been there five times I stayed on the mainland near Sorrento and coached to Amalfi and Positano went over to Capri by catamaran. Capri is split into three visiting places, the first part you see is the harbour and fishing area, lots of market stalls selling bric a brac you know the usual tourist things. the next level is all the designer shops and cafes as you probably know lots of celebrities have homes there hence it is quite expensive, the third part is Ana Capri very unspoilt plenty of history.

I've been to Capri several times, both staying in Sorrento and staying on the island itself on various trips. During the tourist season, Capri can be pretty crowded during the day when the boats from Naples and Sorrento are arriving, but a lot of the people are just there for the day. It's nice to be there at night after most of the boats have gone. For that reason, I'd recommend staying on the island for at least part of your trip. Sorrento is more convenient if you want to see Pompeii / Erculaneum, more of the Amalfi coast, and Naples as well. From Capri, you would have to take the boat excursion back and forth to get to places on the mainland.

When you're there, the nature trail from Capri is nice - there are good views of the sea and rocks. I particularly like the Garden of Augustus. I haven't been back since they reopened the path that goes from the overlook there to Marina Piccola, but that might be a good walk too. Visit the Villa San Michele and take the chair lift to the top of the island while you're in Anacapri.

Yes, great place for a day visit. Very pricey to stay there. The Blue Grotto is the big attraction and island is beautiful especially in the spring.. Check out the Carthusia Perfumeria -- They make men's and womens cologne and perfume from the flowers and plants on the Island -- very unique and classy. We stayed in Sorrento also.

Use your sun creams otherwise you will burn. Dress comfortably in cotton clothing. Wear comfortable resistant shoes.
