Yes, I go regularly to visit. I used to live in Vicenza, which is a great city between Verona and Venice.
On my last trip I discovered the city that I want to live in when I win the lottery--Carpi (not Capri). It's near Modena. While we were there we visited a Parmesan cheese "factory" a Lambrusco winery, and had a great lesson on basalmic vinegar at a little cheese store in Modena. I think we were the only Americans in the city at the time and just about the only tourists. |

I lived there for 2 years - stationed @ Ghedi Air Base in the northern province; which is between Verona and Milano - and I looooooooooved it! I got the chance to visit Rome, Venice, Siciliy, Milano, Verona, and a bunch of other small cities. It was one of the funnest and beautiful places ever to live and visit. |

Yes, my mom's side of the family is Italian and they're dispersed all over the place....Venice, Rome, Milan, and Florence. Italy is absolutely AMAZING...
You can observe the rich artistic and cultural heritage. The opera houses are also quite spectacular....even though I typically fall asleep during the performances. VISIT ITALY! |

Yes, and i absolutely loved it.
I travelled to Rome and then headed north over a month and a half period . During my entire trip i visited:
Rome
Florence
Venice
Milan
Pisa
Siena
Empoli
And while in Tuscany i had the opportunity of visiting a large amount of small Tuscan towns which provided an excellent way to spend my days. Not to mention the driving through Tuscany is gorgeous.
Rome was a very busy place, however nonetheless it was a city full of history and culture. If you do visit Rome, i'd suggest waking up early each day so that you can get to particular attractions ealier to beat the lineups. This is the case especailly for things like the Vatican museum or the Colosseum.
Venice was my favourite city by far. It's almost like from a fairy tale. Unfortunately, during particular timesof the year, it can get extremelly crowded, especially the really popular spots like Piazza San Marco or the Rialto Bridge. A suggestion while there is to take the Vaporetto to i believe it is the last stop in the line or close to it, called Lido. At this stop you can find some very nice, well priced restaurants as well as of course the beach which can provide some fun whether you are travelling with your family or may it be your husband or wife.
Pisa is a great city with of course its most famous landmark, The Tower of Pisa. Now, a word of advice, get there VERY early if you want to climb up the tower without having to wait 3 hours or so. Unfortunately i made the mistake of just arriving in the afternoon and seeing as i really wanted to climb to the top, i had to wait 3 hours. Of course during this time one can travel around the city a bit, just dont come back late or you'll have to wait a while longer most likely. I do not want to sound ignorant or anything, but i personally found there wasnt too much to do in Pisa. So i only stayed a day a continued throught Tuscany where there were many more historically interesting places.
For all who are interested, Empoli is also a nice place for a day trip, which provides source of shopping and as well some historical sites. The Piazza Farinata degli Uberti is marked in the centre by a fountain. And in this square is the Collegiata di Sant'Andrea, which is the city's main monument. It has a beasutiful Romanesque façade decorated with bi-chrome marble stones, in a style inspired by the basilica of San Miniato in Florence. Also, there is the Palazzo Ghibellino and the Palazzo Pretorio - two other places worth visiting while in Empoli.
Florence is a city that can provide days and days of excitment and enjoyment. A few places that one has to visit are The Uffizi Gallery - one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world, The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore also known just as the "Duomo", the Ponte Vecchio - whose most striking feature is the multitude of shops built upon its edges, held up by stilts, the Fountain of Neptune, a masterpiece of marble sculpture at the terminus of a still functioning Roman aqueduct, and there is so much more to do however i do not wish to be sitting here all day. If you are travelling to Italy for a month - two months, i recommend you stay in Florence for around 3 days to a full week (depending on the length of your trip and on the speed you wish to do things.
Ill just go over one other small city known as Siena. Do visit the Duomo di Siena during your visit which is located inside the Piazza del Campo, the principle public space of Siena. Sit, relax, or have lunch or dinner in the Piazza del Campo as there are many restuarant there. However, they can become a bit pricey being in the centre of Siena of course. If you are in Siena for July 2nd or August 16th, you can witness the Palio di Siena, a exciting horse race around the Piazza del Campo, which is definately worth attending. Come early though as the square will begin to fill up very early as well. There is a limited amount of space in the square.
Italy is a country full of history and culture and i hope anyone who decides to go there enjoys every minute of it. Have an amazing trip. |

No, but I saw the movie "Mr. Goodbar". In the movie theater! I liked it! Ha! It had nothing to do with your question. I just felt like making you laugh. I like making people laugh. Some guy chose me for best answer for making him laugh one time. I was talking about T-Pain. His question was not about T-Pain. T-Pain is my favorite singer. |
