Have you ever travelled to Naples from Rome?

How long is the train? Is Naples dirty and dangerous as some people lead me to believe?

Yes, I've traveled from Rome to Naples but i did not measure the length of the train!
Perhaps you mean the distance? Rome-Naples = 219 kilometers or 136 miles. http://goitaly.about.com/library/bl_distances-italy.htm
Is it dirty? Not that i remember (Downtown, Old Harbor).
Is it dangerous? Not that i felt but you should be aware of pickpockets, and specially take care of those guy's who come with motorbikes and snatch your bag, they're really nasty!

I have taken that trip by train and car many times. if you take the train it will take about 2 hours. I lived in Naples for 3 years and loved it. It is just like any other large city. Ask the people who are working in your Hotel if any areas should be avoided.

Rome to Naples is so easy now. They have they the direct super fast train that works really well. Naples is wild. It is very congested with traffic. If you want to see certain sites, it's much better late at night. Naples hasn't had the funding to improve its infrastructure so it suffers a bit. But it has lots of character. Really great food and people are friendly and warm. Also, you have so much just outside like Pompeii and the spectacular Amalfi coast which is just about an hour away. There are buses that go from Naples to Amalfi/Positano cheaply.

The train ride last 1h 27m with AV train.
I totally agree with Stalker, I have nothing to add.

If you go to Naples I suggest you to visit Amalfi and Sorrento too.
Remember to pay attention, Naples isn't just a quiet place.
Have a nice trip.

the train ride is 2 hours yes in old naples its not so clean, dangerous i dont know no one bothered me

yes I have and yes unfortunately it is dirty and dangerous but, all you do is keep your guard up and stay away from those areas, its just like New York some parts you just have to stay away from but its still a beautiful city.. Rome an Naples are a must to see.

Yes, I've travelled from Rome to Naples, and I even traveled from Naples to Rome.

If you are asking how long the train ride is, ours was about 2 hours once we finally departed. It was 30 minutes late.

I found Naples to be quite urban and not friendly. People pretended not to understand my Italian. People would run you over to get someplace 1 second earlier. The people were generally unfriendly, crooks, or just scummy. Of course, not everyone is like that, but many of the people I met were. From taxi drivers gouging you to waiters who simply don't care. We felt so unsafe that my husband would not allow me to leave the hotel alone.

The only reason I would ever go back would be to spend a longer day in Pompeii and to visit the Archaeologic Museum - but that would have to be on the way to Capri or Sorrento.
