Yes, I have been to Italy--for a great week. Of course, it's a long thin country, and like England it has more than one era of history--Etruscan, Rome's Empire, Medieval, Renaissance, eighteenth century and modern; and no one region is exactly like any other in climate, food, museums or anything else. Many Italians speak some English as well as Italian; where you'd want to go depends on which era you want to explore. The best cities to visit are Roma, which is expensive, Siena, Florence, Venice, Bari, Genoa, Livorno, Ravenna, Perugia and the famous tourist towns on the seacoast--Sicily has lots of great places to stay, Capri is gorgeous; and the northern cities all offer late Medieval and Renaissance art, city halls, monasteries, and very good food. Expect to pay 20% extra for tip and service when you eat; use the grocery stores for bread, cheese and wine; and watch out for cabdrivers' math and for pickpockets. The people and the vino alone make the country a fine one to tour.

Yes, Italy is beautiful I loved it there.

My mother took me to Italy in May 2006 for my college graduation present. We stayed 15 minutes south of Siena in a villa called Montestigliano.
Italy is a beautiful, small country, with lots to see. You can go to the beach or the mountains, or go to Chianti, the wine region. You can eat the best food ever and see the most valuable and influential pieces of artwork. You can travel easily by plane, train or bus inside Italy at a fair price. The Italians are very nice people! They take pride in their country and heritage and the area they are from.
I recommend Italy to anyone! If you want to relax there are plenty of relaxing places. If you want to be active there are great sights to see and lots to do!
