Ive been going there every summer for 7 years now and I absolutely love it. I plan on moving there. I stay in Puglia.
+The food is absolutely amazing. So fresh and rich in flavors. Not only is it good but its also very cheap as well as HEALTHY which is something you cant find in America.
+I like that the stores close from 12-5. It a nice concept to go home and eat with your family and friends and relax.
+/- While they do drive like crazy people, they all drive the same. I love that on the highways you stay to the right and pass on the left but then go back to the right. If someone is behind you, you move to the right so they can pass. Unlike America where you have the dumbass's in the left lane going to freaking slow.
- I hear money is hard to make and that overall its a somewhat poor nation. I dont think it will be a problem for me, I want to get into a teaching program. And I also have family friends there who own a business and they'd give me work.
+/- Yeah, you've got to wait all day for the plumber, or electrician or whatever, but that just goes along with the relaxed lifestyle they have which I love so much.
+Beautiful, exciting. |

I lived in italy for 3 years due to my dads job. Ill tell you everything about what i think, starting off with the negative and sugar coating with a couple of positive things.
NEGATIVE
-stores closing and operating times
The vast majority of stores in italy are closed on Mondays and Sundays and THE WHOLE MONTH of august, because of soccer. Now, aside from all this the stores are open from 10:00am-12:00pm and do not reopen from 3:00pm-7:00pm due to italians wanting to take a 3 hour lunch break.
-Driving
Why is it that italy's population continues to decline?
Because everyone kills themselves on the road. I have NEVER seen so much stupidity with drivning in any other country inmy life. How do i know this? Simply because I have been to over 20 different countries on 4 different continents. Italians always tail gate. ALWAYS. So what do i do? I pull over and allow them to pass me up and even then, they honk as they pass ASSUMING that im the one with the stupid mind.
-working services
I call a plumber. He says 1:30pm he will be at my house to fix the tiolet. which by the way italy has never seemed to get how to make a correct successfully operating tiolet. and so anyways I take my whole day of nothing when I could be out there running arrons and working (OH WAIT just kidding, the stores are proabably closed anyways) and the Plumber doesnt show up until 6:30pm. without calling and failing to leave a notice of his unsatisfying services. And by now im trying to put on supper for the friends coming over for dinner and a movie.
I only have a limited amount of characters so i wont waste my time on talking negative because there are so many good things about italy =] ...sigh....
POSITIVES
Italy is so beautiful
Italy allows wonderfull traveling to surrounding countries that are far more worth seeing than itself
AND the most possitive thing about my living in itlay is that it allowed me to appreciate MY country even more then i already had done. God Bless Amerca.
OH and please wise italiano dont take this offensively "por que" you asked " I'd like to know what do you think of Italy" and I just told you what i think of italy, and that my friend is called answering your question.

Only visited once. Stayed in Lido di Jesolo on the Adriatic coast.
Visited Venice which was close by and went over to Slovenia.
Venice was fantastic and I found the people very nice, though the kids in Lido did go around in big scooter gangs and follow the tourists around a lot , but this was a few years ago.
Next time I want to visit the Naples/ Pompeii area. Maybe fit in a trip to Rome if time allows. |
